I somehow continue to be surprised by muscle cars after reviewing a few with Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Greeneville, TN, and the 2017 Dodge Charger SRT is no different. From the moment I pulled up to the dealership to review some of their inventory, the 2017 Dodge Charger SRT was on my mind, and when I finally had the chance to review this one, I was amazed. Let’s breakdown some of my overall thoughts of the latest generation SRT Charger.
2017 Dodge Charger SRT
The exterior of the 2017 Dodge Charger SRT is simple yet muscular, which is just the way that you would want your $60,000 family sleeper sedan to look. While it may not necessarily be a “sleeper,” as most people know the Dodge Charger SRT is a powerful vehicle, it still certainly blew my mind from the moment I hit the Start button. Every single detail of the Charger is near perfect and just how you would expect it to be, as far as the exterior goes.
On top of the beautiful exterior styling of the 2017 Dodge Charger SRT, the exhaust note makes everything at least 20x better. Somehow, Dodge have managed to make the exhaust note on the SRT Charger a part of it’s overall beauty. While it’s a stunning piece of art sitting still, it’s true character comes to life when you start the engine. That all makes sense, though, as the Charger is all about an experience. There is no alternative to this machine, and luckily, that beautiful exhaust tone travels all the way through the interior as well.
With the Challenger, I loved the exterior, but the interior was where I truly wanted to spend my time. With the Charger, though, it’s the opposite. While I do love the interior and all of the details that were put into it, I think I prefer to stare at the exterior. What’s great about that, though, is that I was able to use the Remote Start of the Dodge Charger SRT to start the vehicle as I was walking up to it – a truly staggering experience. With the sound of the beautiful HEMI V8 traveling throughout the parking lot, you look like a king hopping into your high powered sedan.

Another part I loved about the interior of the 2017 Dodge Charger SRT was the Uconnect system. While pretty much every Chrysler/Dodge/Maserati model has this now, it just works so well, and I’m blown away with how intuitive the system was. Compared to other car manufacturers, the Uconnect system just works, and it works seamlessly. I have to give Dodge credit for this system, as it’s been my favorite infotaiment system to work with yet.
With the Uconnect system in the Dodge Charger SRT, you’re also able to use different dynamic modes to change the entire character of the vehicle. While BMW and Mercedes have their dynamic driving modes, they don’t come anywhere close to that of the Dodge Charger. Every single part of the suspension and drivetrain can be changed in Uconnect, and it makes for a completely unique experience no matter where you are. You have to give the Dodge Charger SRT a chance if you’re considering buying a new sedan or muscle car.
My overall thoughts on the Dodge Charger SRT are mixed. While I love the exterior, and I love the interior – including the faults, it didn’t give me a fuzzy feeling inside that it could kill me like the Challenger did. I know the two cars are very different animals, but the Challenger I tested of the channel just felt like an overall better vehicle. Even though the Challenger had less technology and power, the Charger just didn’t feel as pure. If you’re looking for the best sedan on the market right now, it’s likely the Dodge Charger. If you’re looking for the best muscle car, keep your eyes set for the updated Dodge Challenger.
