In this tutorial, we go over exactly how you can download and install WorldEdit on your Minecraft server. From where you can download the official server version of WorldEdit to how you can get it installed, it is all covered in-depth in this article. We even go over some of the common issues you could have getting WorldEdit and how you can get those fixed. What is WorldEdit? Well, it is a plugin that lets you build, copy, paste, replace, rotate, and brush blocks in Minecraft using commands and tools in-game. It is a must-have for a Minecraft server, so let’s go ahead and jump right on into how you can add WorldEdit to your Minecraft server
How To Download & Install WorldEdit on Your Minecraft Server
Step 1) Start Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper Server
The first step of installing any plugin on a server is making sure that you have a server that works with plugins setup for Minecraft. You have a few options for this. You can start a Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper server, and they will all work with plugins. In truth though, we would recommend a Paper server as it is the most efficient and lag-free option. You can find our tutorial on setting up a Paper server linked above. You cannot install plugins on a server unless it is one of these types of servers. Once you have your server setup, you can move on to installing WorldEdit!
Step 2) Download WorldEdit
Now, before we can install WorldEdit we need to download it. Luckily, this is super simple and the same no matter what plugin you are downloading. You can find the official download page for WorldEdit by clicking the green ‘Download WorldEdit' button towards the top of this page. Once you do that, it will take you to WorldEdit's download page. Here, you will see a blue download button towards the right side of the page across from the title of the plugin. Click this, and WorldEdit will begin downloading. You will need to keep the file in the bottom left of Google Chrome or save it in the center of your screen on Mozilla Firefox. It is completely safe to save.
Step 3) Install WorldEdit & Restart Your Server
You have WorldEdit downloaded, and we need to get it installed. This is actually extremely easy on Minecraft servers. Just take the plugin that you downloaded and drag-and-drop it into your ‘plugins' folder within your server. If you don't have a plugins folder, see step 1 to make sure you get the correct type of server setup.
Once you have added your plugin to the plugins folder, just restart your server to finish the installation process. It is that simple and that easy to install WorldEdit on your Minecraft server!
Step 4) Find WorldEdit's Config Files
One thing I did want to mention before finishing this tutorial off is where you can find your plugin's configuration files. These are super simple to find. Just look in your ‘plugins' folder within your server. Here you will see a folder with the name of the plugin you have installed. Open that up, and you will find all of WorldEdit's config files. Feel free to edit and change them all you want. We personally recommend using the Atom text editor for the best results!
Step 5) Enjoy WorldEdit
